Objectives

Our goal is to make the market more attractive to clients and tourists in a way that celebrates the local culture.

Why did you do this action? How did you know this action was needed? Or what led to the decision to do it?

A more fun and engaging market that celebrates the diverse Osa culture provides more opportunity for local producers and (visiting) clients to connect and strengthen the local food / economic system by supporting each other. Since the amount of clients was decreasing due to the season, there was an invitation to think about things that could make it more attractive for the people in the area to visit the market.

What happened? Share what participating in the action was like, and anything you'd like others to learn from what you did!

The organising of the activities is a very enlightening experience. You learn about all the traditional knowledge and craftmanship that are still being practiced among the local campesinos. As well, connecting with new people and clients about what they would like to see happen is very informing to map the needs in the local community

What challenges did you face? What did you learn?

Organising the activities with visiting / local volunteers, members of los higuerones and Local producers is fun yet challenging. The biggest challenge is to how do we attract people who want to participate in the activities…?

This is the more general challenge we’re facing.. What are the avenues and things that people need to hear/see to choose to take part in the activities, volunteer, and consistently show up at the market?
