Hi Bloomers !
I am part of the Diamante valley bloom network, i am working on helping establishing an alive Community Center in Las Tumbas.
For that reason 2 years ago I joined the comity in charge of the salon communal and the soccerfield.
And part of the comity's responsibility is maintaining the grass of the soccer field. And that’s a big job…
During the dry season it’s much less grass to cut and rake but currently during the rainy season we have to cut it every week, this grass grow so fast…
We are working on getting an attachment to be able to collect the grass, in that case we wouldn’t need to rake, someone would be helping unloading it each time it gets full, while someone is driving the machine.
We want to get there, but for now we have to rake, not many options If we don’t want the grass to die, or it’s not good for the machine next time we cut it (according to the people that have been cutting it for years.
And at the moment, it’s been me taking the lead to make sure it will happen because no one else is there to do this part so far.. it’s also something that need improvement in this system. We have created a support group and I am doing my best to invite more people to get involve. And it’s getting there, poco a poco.
So i am regularly sending messages, looking for volunteers, sharing about the importance of volunteer service for the village…
I go there with my quad, with rakes, make sure that the people helping have what they need…
Honestly all of this it’s quite some work and responsibility for me at the moment and that is why I am working on establishing a better system and have more people involved.
It takes a village to maintain the village :)
The good part of this and very important one: it brings us together.
And that’s why I am doing this: I see the potential behind having an established and alive community center, actually I see this as the most essential part of a village.
It's coming !
