About Bloom Network

Where local action changes the world.

Join 30,000 changemakers across 40 communities restoring land, building local food systems, and creating economies that care.

Our story: Bloom began in 2008, sparked by the Occupy Movement, Arab Spring, and visions from plant medicine experiences for the future of society. Before algorithms divided us, we gathered for in-person skill shares and deep dialogue - artists, business and community leaders, government workers, and visionaries united by one belief: we can do this together.

"Bloom is a live-action demonstration of people weaving the fabric of mutual support, not against things, but for each other's autonomy and well-being."
- Tricia Stapleton, Cooperativa Los Higuerones

The most important news isn't on CNN. It's in communities like yours.

Most media is optimized for fear. Fear keeps you scrolling. Scrolling keeps you passive. Passive keeps you consuming.

Bloom is built on the opposite principle. Our feed shows you what communities around the world are building - solutions you can learn from, replicate, and scale where you live. Watersheds healing. Food systems growing. Economies that keep wealth close to home.

This is a deliberate choice about what deserves attention, and who holds the power to act on it.

How Communities Get Funded

Bloom channels grant funds and cooperative profits to the communities doing the work. No lengthy grant applications, just you documenting the work your community is doing, so people everywhere can learn from and support it.

This is called Retroactive Public Goods Funding, and it's how we're building self-sustaining local economies.

Diagram showing the cycle of regenerative actions: Local Hubs organize actions → Impact reporting → Verification → Rewards distributed → Individuals and Local Treasuries → Goods & Services exchanged → back to Local Hubs

How It Works

  1. 1. Communities take action: watershed restoration, food systems, ecosystem protection, and more.
  2. 2. They document their impact: in plain language, on their own terms
  3. 3. Peers verify the results: transparent, community-led
  4. 4. Funding follows: distributed quarterly, proportional to contribution
  5. 5. Wealth circulates locally: Members use local treasury funds to invest in community businesses, exchange goods and services through the time bank, and build the kind of local economy that lifts everyone up - not just those at the top.

Proven at scale:

  • • $26,600 distributed to 120 participants across 34 communities
  • • 32,464 hours of regenerative work documented and compensated
  • • $543,920 worth of labor rewarded at grassroots scale
  • • $4 in fees and 30-second settlement for international payments (vs. $1,000+ and 3+ days with traditional banking)

Funds flow directly to the communities doing the work - transparently, "on-chain", with minimal fees.

We're building something the internet has never seen.

Most platforms are built to extract - your attention, your data, your community's value - and send it to shareholders you'll never meet.

Bloom is built to do the opposite.

We're a nonprofit today, and we're transitioning to a platform cooperative, meaning the people who build this network will own it. Members, contributors, and local chapters will hold real stakes, vote on real decisions, and share in what Bloom creates.

This is already in motion. Members propose, discuss, and vote on the platform's future today.

We believe the only way to build a network that genuinely serves communities is to make sure communities genuinely own it.

How Bloom Sustains Itself

Bloom makes money three ways:

  • Grants - from foundations and organizations who believe in community-led change
  • Affiliate marketing - values-aligned partners only
  • Co-investing in local businesses and supply chains - we grow when communities grow

We're raising $2M in cooperative-aligned capital to reach the scale where these revenue streams sustain everything. Unlike extractive platforms, every dollar Bloom makes is designed to flow back into communities.
