IMPACTS
This was one of the first steps in building the Old School Learning Center at Los Higuerones. The activities, workshops and classes are focused on bringing the community together. These classes highlight the skills of the instructor as well as inspire the participants. We decided to start including more activities during the market in order to encourage more participation and attendance for both the Mercado Verde and the Old School. The children, families and other attendees of the market were very happy with the art activity. It encourages creativity and community coming together.
Some things I learned were to lay out any responsibilities or expectations beforehand. The instructor showed up late and gave me different information about what supplies she provided. Luckily we had spare art supplies on site and we were able to start the class a half hour late. Overall it came together and the kids were happy, that's what matters the most.
