IMPACTS
On May 31st, 2025 from 10am-5pm, We (Robin, Holly, & Sunny), as the co-organizers of the Mushroom City Art Festival were invited to set up a booth to share what it is our festival & the services we offer the local community of Baltimore is all about at the Peabody Heights Brewery for their Mushroom Market. There were over 25+ local vendors with a wide range of crafts, creations, education, medicine, food, & services for all things mycology, sustainability, conservation, & land stewardship. Our intention was to engage with the local community by sharing what our festival offers, generating excitement, finding volunteers, connecting with artisans for vending the festival, building support, & raising funds as we are a non-profit festival dedicated to the education of the local community through conservation & sustainable practices involving mycology.
Holly had created a tea that had been made from mushrooms that were foraged & Sunny made cookies with mushrooms in them to be sold as a way to nourish the community, show the health benefits of mushrooms, & to raise funds to put into being able to host the festival. There were about 300 people throughout the day who attended the Mushroom Market. We were able to connect with about 150 people, many who have never heard of, nor attended our festival by sharing our mission & the intention of what the M.C.A.F. involves. We were also able to promote the festival, along with foraging / foray education services through upcoming events.
Overall we were able to connect with every vendor, we garnered plenty of volunteer, vendor, & visual artist sign ups for the festival by strengthening the local community through co-creating an event that is growing interest in all things mycology, sustainability, education, community engagement, & conservation.
