Visit to Finca de Jardines del Uran

During our Diamante Community Field Trip to the Rivas area, we got to know Gabi (pictured below) and the other ladies (plus one gentleman) that are a part of the community of the Herbolaria Communtaria known as Jardines del Uran. Gabi is seen here, with a new distiller that the community has acquired in support of their Herbalist project.

The Finca is home to many plants and animals that Finca del Uran cocreates with. Currently, the team makes herbal teas, oils, soaps, salves and many other amazing products with completely all natural ingredients, right from the farm. Some other ingredients that are used in their products are found from the neighboring communities.

We shared a meal together, with delicious food and their signature teas made from herbs found right on the land. Gabi and the group told us about some of the challenges that they are currently facing which has led them to pause some actions moving forward. They also shared the momentum of what they are currently creating together with the new distillation space that was recently built on the land.

This was a great time to gather and learn about other nearby farms making local impact to their surrounding communities and how they've been able to reach all the way to the Diamante Valley. Many of the locals here use their products, which can be found in many of the local shops here. In support of the finca as well, we made our our purchases for soaps and oils that day. I can't wait to be back!
