This winter we set up our new growing plot at our partner farm, Jacob Springs Prepping the new plot required mowing, raking, tractor discing, spreading compost and fertilizer, cleaning trash and marking out beds. Our new volunteers made the process much easier and more fun and it was a joy to see the little boys rake compost out of the tiny Japanese dump truck! This plot will also allow us access to free water, which will help the farm become more profitable.
We will be supplying their farm stand and kitchen this year and are developing a new farm collective model to create community scale food systems and allow different kinds of farmers to collaborate and share resources, equipment and distribution.
