Hosting a community library

A community library is a beautiful opportunity to collect inspiring educational and entertaining books in several languages. It is a great way to share the books we have in our community effectively. Plus we attracted donations of boxes of good books, that found a new home in our library.

Our librarian is 75-year old Narayani, who is very happy to have a meaningful contribution for the community. She knows many many books and does an amazing job also in consulting readers. She also reads once in a while to the Coliazul kids.

What took place during the action? (What activities, events, or processes happened?)

We have the library running continuously for the last 5 months, every Friday afternoon.

Every Friday people from the community are coming to borrow books and bring them back and having a little chat with the hosts and whoever they accidently meet there.

It's about 3 - 8 people that come each Friday and some come regularly. They borrow 1-3 books each.Round about 10 more books were donated and added to the library during that time.

What truths or insights did this action reveal?

Another beautiful opportunity to connect with individual community members, even on a rainy afternoon.

We continue to receive good books. We also would like to offer more books in Spanish.
