Hi Everybody !

This is the last chapter of many in the book of fencing the entire soccer field in Las Tumbas, if you read my posts you can see how much work it took... Since this soccer field existed dogs would come in a leave their poop everywhere, which isn't nice at all for soccer players and children... Also cows would sometimes escape their field and come in, creating deep holes in the soccer field, which isn't just very inconvenient like dog poop but very dangerous.

So we made it, the fence, the gates, all around ! By donations and volunteer work ! Started in 2022 !

Building the entrance gate was the last piece of it, and it was such a pleasure for me to complete this long project with the entrance part. Eventually in the future we may build a proper metal gate, that can roll on the side, or something more fancy, but this one works very well.

It is actually a double gate : The first is the "Tico style" for the main entrance, that can be opened if a car need to go in, or during big events, the second is a wooden frame with hinges and a spring to have it close automatically.

I also build the access path to get to the second gate :

Some rocks, some leveling and smaller rocks to cover the soil...

And this is the result :

This dog, outside the fence, what the end result of this action. So satisfying !

This may seem insignificant but it is actually a big change for activating this Community Center !

You may know that we are looking to create a Playground and a Gathering area, and is wasn't possible for us to ignore dog poops appearing daily... It is just not compatible with kids playing and running around !

A long long work, to allow an other one to become a reality, sometimes that is what it takes...

Now that we are complete with the Fence, we are able to focus on what we really want to create : The Community Center and Playground. And It's coming sooon...

IMPACTS

  • - We finally finished a 4 year old project : Fencing all the soccer field in Las Tumbas
  • - Dogs and Cows aren't able to come in the soccer field, making it a safe space for anyone using it.
  • - We invited many people to volunteer and donate to this project over the years, all these efforts are counting, making the village a better place for everyone
  • - Completing this project was the necessary foundation for what is to come : The community Center and Playground
