Every year at Muda we celebrate our existence by gathering partners from our network and combining efforts to bring more happiness, culture, regenerative practices, and love into our world.

This year our celebratory project started in Anápolis, a city in the Brazilian state of Goias. We crossed more than 1,300 km from Rio to Goias to join our friends from the Socio-Environmental Institute Arandu and the theater group Cia Boca do Lixo, who formed our first CSAA. For 3 days, we held a series of events and brought reflections on agroecology, environmental issues, and alternative economies while also appreciating good art and culture.

The cultural immersion and knowledge exchange started on December 6th with the performance of the children’s play ‘Rose and the Forest’ from the theater group Pedras. The show was performed at APAE Anápolis, a social organization that serves people with intellectual and multiple disabilities.

On December 12th, we had an intense and festive day at the Coletivo Flamingo. From 3 to 10 pm, the program included several activities and performances celebrating the local and ancestral culture, as:

  1. Fair with local producers and Muda's stall, with products only traded for our social currency.
  2. Discussion Circle about Muda, during which we discussed the origins of our currency, its operation, and its political-economic purpose.
  3. Launch of the HQ on Cannabis history and discussion circle with Sou Cannabis.
  4. Performance of Capoeira Angola Flor da Gente with Master Tuíca.
  5. Percussion Performance with Baque Trinca Ferro.
  6. Dance Performance with Sambadeiras do Cerrado.
  7. Forró dance class with Karen Cristina
  8. Forró music show with group Forró Quentim

Early on the same day, theater group Pedras performed the play ‘Rose and the Forest’ again at the Arandu Institute for a group of children from a local orphanage.

The last day of activities happened at Instituto Arandu and the schedule included:

  1. An Agroforestry Workshop
  2. A Beekeeping Workshop, educating on practices to protect native species of bees.
  3. Slam, Authorial Poetry Battle with SLAM REEXISTIR
  4. Lambe-Lambe theater performance with Pneuma Theater Company
