IMPACTS
In November 2024, we conducted a 3-day permaculture course that culminated in the planting of a food forest. As in the philosophy of permaculture, during those 3 days, we formed a strong bond amongst the participants, and in order to foster that bond and continue to grow our community, we reunited to perform some maintenance on the food forest, meet new people in the community who are interested in permaculture and regenerative agriculture, and share a meal together. Furthermore, we discussed the scope and benefits of Bloom Network, and hopefully we will onboard some of the participants.
The maintenance of the food forest included creating borders around the forest to protect it from the foot, bike, and motorbike traffic that passes through. The food forest is located near a didactic center in the Angimbè Forest in an area that is accessible to everyone, which was a major factor in the site selection. However, we have observed that the traffic caused some damage to the plants. In regard to traffic, some damage was also caused by animal traffic. We suspect wild boars, as the tracks and plant selection is consistent with their behavior and diet.
This was a small but fundamental action in our course of building a regenerative community. The next maintenance and community-building meeting will be on Sunday, 02 February.
