Tribal Communities, Wildlife and Challenges:

Problems identified that Higa-onon tribe faced challenges like poverty and continuing destruction of rainforest and wildlife through the mining, logging, wildlife trading, big monoculture plantations and selling of the rainforest.

The reasons behind that the threats of the rainforest and Higa-onon tribe are serious due to the absence of food security and income generating projects that feed the whole communities. Starvation brought destruction of the mother earth where tribal members engaged mining, logging and wildlife trading in order to feed their families that being plagued by the absence of foods. The organization fought for their future to save the communities and remaining sacred forest to reduce the continuing destruction.

Goals and Objectives:

  1. To ensure the safety of the endangered wildlife, rainforest, and fresh rivers
  2. To provide income generating projects through cash crops to reduce poverty, deforestation and wildlife trading.
  3. To ensure the community food security, safety of the rainforest and wildlife

Activities:

  1. Establish Germination Nursery for 30,000 bell pepper seedlings
  2. Prepare 1 hectare farming land for the crop production
  3. Plant first 15,000 seedlings for first planting of half hectare plots
  4. Involve 50 tribal members to plow, clearing weeds and plotting
