After a redesign of the initial agroforestry site plan for Butterfly Hill to include more local resilent species, we have completed the first phase of the project by planting 280 olive trees and 100 almond trees. This is in addition to an understory of aromatics and support pioneer plants like acacia saligna.

In the spring we will continue to plant the tropicals of avocados and moringas while increasing diversity of species to include more citrus, pomegranate, and figs. We are also heavy mulching to prepare the plants and soil for an intense dry hot summer.

With this new design we are more confident of the plants survival and the overall systems success.
