Fall Work at Maybloom: Clearing, Pruning, and Preparing for What’s Next
We gathered in the center of the village to hear stories of the past from a local elder

Diamante Bridge Collective
The Diamante Bridge Collective (DBC) is an association of individual contributors, local organizations, and global partners working together as an interdependent network of autonomous communities to cultivate a flourishing bioregion. We are creating foundational agreements and more regenerative economic flows that empower us all to take better care of our ecosystem, our neighbors and ourselves.
The name "Diamante Valley, where our Local Bloom is located, is a really young name given to this area. The locals actually don't use this name; it has been named that way by the foreigners.
In this valley there are few villages: Tinamastes, Las Tumbas, San Salvador, La Florida...
And these villages are also relatively young, it was a hundred years ago that the first Tico locals arrived to this area. They were the parents of the elders of today, who opened the forest to build the valley as we know it. The locals, they know their story, at least the elders, but for foreigners, there are a lot of mysteries!
We organized this event to bring these two populations together, for local elders to tell the stories, and for the "new ones" to hear them :
To begin the event we had a potluck lunch, where many brought delicious food to share :

We chose to eat outside in the recently built structure, from where we could enjoy the view of the mountain wall of Las Tumbas. Kids always love to play and run on the soccer field. Some people who didn't know that this was happening just stopped by, got a plate, and joined the event. That is the natural effect of using the center.

At 2 pm, the stories started with some music :

Because many still don't understand Spanish, we had a few people translating the stories. We got to learn how these villages were born and evolved, and a bit of how life was at that time. We also had the chance to ask questions. It was such a great moment!
There are so many stories of the past, and this is just the beginning for us to get to hear them.
I am sure the locals really appreciate the curiosity of the foreigners to know more about their past and the local culture.
For those who know a bit about the dynamics of Costa Rica and the gentrification theme, such an event helps us to know each other better, so we move towards Unity.
Pueblo del futuro = Pueblo Unido
